What's a Vocaloid? When Miku does a concert, who writes her songs? Suzanne asked these and many other questions. These idiots weren't looking to make an actual legit site, they were looking for a 100k vacation to Japan. I get wanting more competition in the US anime industry, because Sony owns the biggest player and is attempting to buy the second largest site, but this isn't how you go about it. Not mention "Game Face" the LLC who owns Anime tube, also owns a manga app, a K-Drama app, a cartoon app and I believe another anime app, all of which are illegal. Anime Tube had a business plan of "Give us 100K, we'll go to Japan and somehow convince these companies to give us the rights!" Their plan to license anime? It was going to be user based, they would simply say "which of these titles should be license next?" and users would vote. I know people don't really understand how licensing works, but that's not how it works. They were never going to be able to legally license shows like Attack on Titan or Sword Art Online, they had reached out to the owner of Right Stuf via Linkedin so they could get the rights to some of their shows. They put out a 2-page "press release" where they essentially said "Every single industry professional who said that we are a scam and/or can't deliver on our promises is fake news, you should only believe what we tell you" and offered zero proof that they aren't a scam.Īnd of course they disabled all replies to that tweet.Īnime Tube was a scam full stop. For a small $1 fee (and giving your credit card info to their transaction provider, because they don't use paypal) you can now register for their newsletter!Įdit: Oh, their twitter is back. ![]() Once the jig was up, they closed their twitter account, they shut down their discord, and the owner deleted his LinkedIn profile. Any time someone even asked how these scammers were going to acquire licenses to massive properties (most of which were already licensed, as KikiFlowers said) the scammer's response was to block them on social media and kick them off of their discord server - a discord server that was only for paying backers in the first place.
